_______

Hi, Calli, welcome to "xandrella.com" from me and Xandrella. Your site, "Calli's Creations" is very well known for the large amount of wallpapers concerning the Xenaverse.

1 . Tell us something about you and how you knew Xena.

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand which is in the South Island and a long way from Auckland, where Lucy Lawless comes from and where XWP was filmed. I work full time in an office and graphics are just a hobby that has taken over a lot of my spare time.

I started watching Xena when it was first shown here in New Zealand, mainly to see how good our local girl, Lucy Lawless was going to be. Of course with it being filmed in New Zealand was a bonus. There was much publicity and I was curious. Anyway I enjoyed it and watched some episodes after that, but not on a regular basis, until season 3. Then I didn't miss an episode. I was hooked.
Prior to Xena, I use to watch Hercules, but found that Xena was darker and more adult, therefore I enjoyed it more.

I originallty bought my computer to learn Exel, Word and other business related programs, but it was then, that I was introduced to PhotoShop. I started to play around with family birthday cards and things like that at first. Then one day I decided to do a search for Xena on the internet and found MaryD's site, the montages and the fanfiction stories. My very first cover was Taught by Love. I was hooked, so it all started from there.

I had no idea of the extent of fandom on the internet especially with Xena. It was all very new to me at the time. Xena has opened so many doors, for so many people and for that, I will always be grateful.

2. What in the show inspired you so much that you produced so many beautiful wallpapers?

Lucy and Renee and their portral of two, very strong and independent women. The love and friendship inspires me.

3. Are you the author of all the wallpapers displayed in your site or someone works with you?

It is all my own work. The graphics take up a lot of space, especially now as I have been making larger fanfiction covers. At some stage I will run out of room, ans then I will either have to move my site entirely, or delete some older graphics to make room for the new. This is the main reason why I don't house other peoples work.

4. What season, character and episode of Xena you like most and why?

I loved season three the best as that was when I got hooked. I loved both Xena and Gabrielle. They are so different, but if i had to name a favorite, then it would be Xena. As for favorite episodes, well there are a lot which I are favorites, but off the top of my head, it would be A Day in the Life, One against an Army, The Debt 1 and 2 , When Fates collide, Bitter Suite..... I could go on <g> I like so many, for all different reasons.

5 .What is Gabrielle for Xena mainly: a lover, a wife or a friend? And in what order you'd put these three faces if you had to grade them?

Best friend, lover and wife. Definatley soulmates.

6.Did you ever meet Lucy Lawless or Renee O'Connor and, if you did, what of them impressed you mostly?

No, I have never meet them.

7. Did you ever attend some convention? If you did, tell us about your experience.

I haven't been that fortunate, as I live here in New Zealand it is a long way from the USA, but I did go to the DC Bardfest In Washington DC in 2003. I had a great time and got to meet Xena fans and bards It was really wonderful and would do it again if i could. I also visited and stayed with friends that I meet due to Xena. It was a magical holiday for me.

8.What's your opinion about Joxer in the show and his role in Xena's sentimental life?

Ahh, well I have never been a great fan of Joxer. I found him more irritating than anything else, but Xena and Gabrielle had a soft spot for him. He was a friend to them both.

9. Are you satisfied about the way Robert Tapert and his staff developed the sentimental theme between Xena and Gabrielle through the seasons or, in your opinion, they could do something more?

I would have said yes, if I has not read any fanfiction, but having read some of these wonderful stories out there, they made me want more than what they gave. There were some instances where they could have been bold and brave and given more, but they didn't. Maybe if we get a movie, things might be different ;)

10. The final episode of the show ("A Friend in Need") was very debated in Italy. Many disliked it. What were your reactions? Did you like it or not?

I have only seen it twice. The fist time was when it was shown here in NZ. I am on Missy's Merwolf list, so I already knew what was going to happen and I thought I would be okay, but I wasn't. I cried. It broke my heart to see Gabrielle on her own at the end without Xena, her soulmate. The ending was wrong in my opinion. It was a couple of years later that I decided to watched it again. I didn't cry that time, but it's not an episode that makes me want to watch it for a third time.
I am pleased to be part of the wonderful talented team for 'XWP Subtext Virtual Season'. We carried on where 'Fin' left off and brought Xena back ;) This is the website http://www.xwpsubtextvs.com/ Although we are on a hiatus at the moment, we hope to be able to produce some of our own movies in the future.

11. Thank you very much for your willingness. Ciao.

Your very welcome and thank you for asking.

Linda (calli)
